Player Placements and Team Tryouts for Davis County and Salt Lake Metro have concluded.
The skinny on
How it Works
+ How do I learn more about Meta? ...
If you're new to MetaSport, take a quick gander at our club FAQs. Check out the nuts and bolts and see what drives our motivation to keep our focus on "players first." See Club FAQs.
+ How do I sign-up for tryouts? ...
First, find your tryout age group and date/time - choose Davis County or Salt Lake Metro.
Online registration is available through the MetaSport website. The cost is $10 and includes a t-shirt. Register early (you'll get good karma) because it makes the check-in process smoother and quicker and helps us avoid potential snags in processing your player.
+ Who should attend tryouts? ...
Participation in competitive soccer does require both a stronger time and motivational commitment upon the player and the parents. The financial commitment, while less expensive than individual sports, is more significant than recreation soccer as we provide training and game play throughout the year.
We’re excited to train and develop players who want to learn and demonstrate respect for coaches, staff, parents, referees ... and the opposing team.
All returning MetaSport players must attend tryouts.
+ Will every player at tryouts make a team? ...
Our goal is maintain a smaller club experience with dedicated players and families and that means we may not be able to place every player who attends tryouts. We do want to help however! If your player does not make a team, we will do our best to make recommendations for other options at sister clubs.
+ How do 6U, 7U and 8U Player Placements work? ...
Kids 6U-8U participate in an exciting development program called the PlayOn Program. In Davis County, kids in this age group should register for placements and attend Player Placement Day to meet the coaches, other players, parents, get a Meta T-shirt and play some soccer! (When players register for the PlayOn Program in June, the cost will be $10 less if the player attended Placement Day.)
Davis County Player Placement Day is is Monday, May 20. See designated times above in the chart.
If you missed Davis County Player Placement Day and are still interested in PlayOn, reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Salt Lake Metro 6U-8U kids will not be attending a Player Placement Day. To learn more about signing up for PlayOn in Salt Lake, reach out to us at email@example.com.

+ What do I bring to tryouts? ...
Players should wear their soccer cleats, shin guards and bring a water bottle. Returning MetaSport players: please don't wear your club uniform or training gear.
Arrive 30 minutes prior to your tryout sessions and check in at the welcome table. Once you get your sticker player number, leave it on your tryout shirt for both sessions.
+ Do I have to attend all of my tryout sessions? ...
Yes, please! The more sessions players attend the better our coaching staff can assess their ability and get to know them. If you have a major or unavoidable conflict, reach out and let us know beforehand. We'll do our best to accommodate or make other arrangements to assess your player.
If the player gets sick and misses tryouts, let us know as soon as possible! Note! We may ask some players to return for call-backs if necessary to more effectively evaluate a player to place them on an appropriate team.
+ What if there's a conflict with another club tryout? ...
If your player has a conflict with tryouts for their age group, let us know as soon as possible and we’ll set up a time to evaluate them. Email us: firstname.lastname@example.org.
+ What age group do I try out for? ...
The player should tryout for the age group for the year in which they were born.
+ Can I play for an older team? ...
Players are welcome to tryout for a team in an older age group if they are eligible to play in that age group by UYSA Bylaws and Policies. Some players may have the opportunity to multi-roster for their current age group and an older age group with prior approval of the MetaSport coaching staff.
+ When do I have to commit to the team? ...
Players have a minimum of 48 hours to commit after the coach individually offers a spot to the player on the team. This ensures we can form teams efficiently and it quickens the process for all members in the event a player declines and we offer the position to a different player.
+ What happens next? ...
After the player verbally commits to the team, the player and parents must be ready to register at the state level through Utah Youth Soccer Association or the roster spot is not guaranteed. Shortly after, the player will register through MetaSport.
But do not fear! MetaSport offers Player/Parent Orientation Meetings after the team is named and we'll go through everything you need to know.
+ What are the costs? ...
The monthly costs to participate in MetaSport FC are comparable to or less than other elite soccer clubs in Utah. Not all costs are required upfront, we also offer monthly payment plans.
